Hello world.
I’m Sam Feeley, a 24-year-old sports media freelancer originally from Lexington, Massachusetts, now living in nearby Acton. Maybe you’re here because I gave you one of my business cards, or maybe you just happened to find one of my articles. In any event, now that you’re here, I should probably tell you my evil plan.
I created SamuraiSportsBlog.com because, even though SamuraiSports.com and Samurai-Sports.com were taken (Those bastards!), I needed a place to, if I must use the term, show off my work. And there’s a lot of it. I’d call myself a jack-of-all-trades but part of that sounds dirty.
Television
I am the play-by-play voice of the Lexington High School Minutemen on LexMedia, and I have also announced high school sporting events for Pittsfield Community Television, Burlington Cable Access Television, and CTN.
Writing
I have covered high school sports for the Concord Journal, Examiner.com, Berkshire Eagle, and Sudbury Patch.
The original content you’ll see here is commentary. My reporting is reporting, but my commentary is the exquisite (ahem) blend of stats, stories, and snark one would associate with names like Bill Simmons and Charlie Pierce. Except, please don’t tell Bill and Charlie I put their names in the same sentence.
Other stuff
I record game film for the Lexington High School boys’ varsity hockey team. Over the summer, when high school sports are out of season, I work for the Lexington Blue Sox as the public address announcer at home games and as a photographer at away games.
My hobbies, or how I lose friends and alienate people
Outside of propane and propane accessories sports and sports media, I enjoy cooking, traveling, board games, video games, poker, and trading card games. I’ve even combined my interests in gaming and sports into a side project: a rehash of the MLB Showdown trading card game. I have no intention of putting the game back on the market; rather, it is a fun little diversion that I bring to gaming conventions.
Yes, I’m a huge nerd, but aren’t all writers?
The future
I am trying my hand at fiction with some short stories, and I plan on releasing a collection of my works, as well as a memoir, sometime in 2012. Big things all around, huh?
The bottom line
My ultimate goal is to attain a full-time position at a newspaper, radio, or television station, preferably in some capacity relating to sports. If you are a prospective employer, my resume is available here. (updated September 27, 2011)

Oh, and if you’d like one of the aforementioned business cards, email me at samuraientertainment@gmail.com with your snail mail address. Or just find me, if I don’t find you first.
I told you I’m an evil genius.
